A month ago I posted an early sketch of two characters I had created for an animated short about a little boy who finds an old robot. I also asked for suggestions of names for the two. Today I am posting another painting which shows a scene from the short where the little boy is curiously looking at the robot and playing with its spring eyebrows. I've called the boy 'Louie' and the robot 'Jason'.

Hoping to start working on a full storyboard soon and then some 3D models. More new artwork coming in my build up to Macworld 2011.

Really nice... has an immediate feel to it that makes me want to see the whole movie :-)
Not sure about the names (my son is called Louis and I hate to see it spelt Louie). What made you choose Jason?

The names that spring to my mind when looking at your painting are Lewis & Clark. This could be in homage to the great explorers/adventurers and you could make the robot's first vocal on screen sound like he is saying Clark in a metally/grindy noise as though he hasn't spoken for years - the boy then interprets that the robot is saying the name 'Clark'.
